From a Kindred Hospital Patient
I was very fortunate after having acute respiratory failure to become a patient at Kindred Hospital South Florida - Coral Gables for two months during March and April 2009. I was connected to a respirator/ventilator through my trachea and some doctors thought that I was to remain like that permanently. It was because of the excellent care and guidance that I received from absolutely all personnel at your hospital that I can write this letter from home and am now breathing perfectly on my own. Every single person that worked at your hospital gave of themselves more than 100 percent and you could tell they were truly sincere in their care and compassion. You have to be one of the best, if not the best, hospital in the nation and I am glad that throughout my catastrophic illness, I was lucky enough to come across your hospital.

From a Kindred Hospital Family Member
Mr. Charles Doten:
I just want to pass along a
couple of lines regarding your hospital in Coral Gables, Florida. My mother was
sent to Kindred Hospital South Florida - Coral Gables with some respiratory
problems. My mother also has terminal cancer. Before sending my mother to
Kindred I was a little hesitant as it is not a large hospital. But after the
first day I realized that it was the perfect hospital for my mother.
Right away they took care of my mother as if she was
their own mother. From your nursing staff all the way to your custodial staff,
they kept my mother extremely comfortable in spite of her condition. All
hospitals care for the sick, but what was done at your facility made my mothers
stay above and beyond what was expected. Two of your nurses especially, Nancy
Izquierdo RN and her supervisor Peggy Machicek did something that left me
speechless.
My mother has tumors throughout her whole body and has
pulmonary fibrosis. In her three week stay your nursing staff were not just
medically caring for my mother but also psychologically. They endured much with
my mother and came up with a fabulous idea. They let me bring my mother's two
dogs, who mean everything to her, to meet her just outside the hospital. They
did it so she could feel comfort and happiness to help her with her emotional
sadness.
So I brought her two little puppies in their cage and the
nurses brought my mother down in her wheelchair with her oxygen tank to see
them. I want you to know that was the most human thing that I have seen in such
a long time. It was amazing how those five minutes changed my mothers outlook.
I can't thank your staff enough for all the help,
guidance and moral support that they gave my mother at Kindred Hospital Coral
Gables. If all of your hospitals show their desire for helping and assisting
people like yours they must all be an extreme success.
Respectfully,
Mr. D
